What is Generic Singulair (Montelukast)

Generic Singulair belong to calss . Generic Singulair blocks the activity of fatty acid called leukotrienes. Leukotriens are secreted by mast cells during asthma attack. Body immune system releases it in response of allergents.

Leukotrienes works on lungs to cause inflammation and excess production of mucous. Activities of Leukotrienes are also responsible to contract airways muscle and eventually narrows airway. The combined effects of leukotrienes results in blockage of air to lungs.

Generic singulair (Montelukast) is a leukotriene receptor antagonist (LTRA). Montelukast get its self sticked to receptors of leukotrienes and leaves no place for leukotrines. This blocks activation of leukotrines and thereby its activities. This helps to stop mucous production and contraction of airway muscles and prevent asthma attack.
